Christmas Tree Day!

Yesterday we finally picked out a Christmas tree! But before that…

My mom and I ran errands all afternoon. We grocery shopped, thrift store shopped, went to Michaels, Walmart, and Future Shop. I got virtually everything on my list, except eggnog. Of all things to not be able to find!!! Oh well, next time.

I think its fair to say that we had an awesome time. The three of us haven’t had an errand day in quite some time, and we really enjoy each others company. It was also really nice to have an extra set of hands to occupy and entertain Dekker. My favorite stop yesterday was, surprisingly, Future Shop.

I wanted to get a case and screen protector for my new iPhone. I opted for a 4s version, but since the 5 is newer, there weren’t tons of cases available that I really liked. I hemmed and hawed for quite some time, and Deks was getting fairly impatient with the whole process. Until a salesman walked up to us and handed him a cell phone. An older, display phone. His second new cell phone this week, haha! He was, of course, thrilled and occupied. For a couple of minutes. We then were informed that getting the screen protector on and set would take about 10 minutes. We ran Dekker around the store, visiting all the departments, listening to the tv guy’s loon call and everything. When the screen was finally set, we entered rush hour in a sleet storm to meet the boys to pick out Christmas trees. It was a nice quick process this year, as you can imagine! Since we were less than thrilled with the idea of venturing too far into the city for supper, we opted for the DQ across the street. Sometimes, a greasy burger is amazing. And it was! The only downfall was the complete lack of change area. I changed Dekker’s diaper on the floor in the bathroom on my mom’s parka. I was tempted to change him on a table in the dining area. I HATE when restaurants don’t cater to children, especially fast food joints where we should expect it. I wasn’t impressed. But the cashier was very nice and suggested grilled cheese for Dekker when I wasn’t sure what to order for him. He ate his grilled cheese like a champ, had some milk, and we even let him try my caramel Sunday. He was very interested in that! It was then that we discovered that Dekker knows how to dance. On command!! His adorable head bob really got us all laughing 🙂 He’s such a funny kid.

We drove to Dalmeny after supper, since we had them in Brady’s work van and they wouldn’t fit in my parents car. We left as soon as we could, considering the weather. We figured the highways would be slick and it would be a slow drive home. But it wasn’t. The roads were surprisingly clear and we drove home in good time.

Such a solid day. Groceries went away right away, the tree is opening beautifully, and I’m crafting away with all my new Michaels stuff. Life is good.

As for today, it was spent playing with my purchases from yesterday. I just received a list of music I will be playing for our churches Sunday School program, and of course I can’t find any of the music I had printed off for last years program. My house is officially upside down and I have lost my marbles for the day. I will have to get up ridiculously early to get the music, pick a key, practice, and be ready to play them for people at 9:45pm. How does anyone wind down after that?!?! I HATE being unprepared.

Ok, rant over. Bubble bath.
