Bili baby

I apologize yet again for not posting Laelas birth story. I’m hoping to be home, on my laptop, organized, before I do. I don’t want to miss a thing!
We are still in the hospital, however. We were potentially going to go home on Sunday evening but opted to stay for one more night. Everything was such a whirlwind up to this point, we decided not to rush ourselves and to stay that extra night. This morning Laelas bilirubin levels were too high, indicating that she has jaundice and it needs treatment. In very little time, two ladies were in our room giving us information and getting her ready. She was stripped down to her diaper and laid on a mat. They then actually tied her to the mat and plugged it in to a big rolling machine. The mat lot up and they put her little sunglasses on. They wrapped her whole little bilibundle up in a blanket and she’s been that way ever since. Every once in a while she wakes up in protest but eventually realizes how nice and squishy warm she is and falls back to sleep. She’s kind of hard to burp in a set up like that tho.
So with all this, we are for sure here until tomorrow morning. They’ll recheck her bililevels at 6am and see if she’s improved enough to go home. As I’ve gotten in the practice of doing, I am requesting that her levels rock all the doctors socks off and we can go settle into our home together with Dekker.
I miss Dekker. He came by the hospital today and offered Laela a cracker. Laela. His little sister. The new little person in his life that he just met and is still pretty hesitant of. The little one all wrapped up with the scary light. With her eyes covered. My shy boy squealed with excitement when he saw her. He knows. I love him.
And her. I love her too.
