It feels so recent that Dekker was born. And now, here he goes, turning fifteen like a BIG BOY! š„¹
This boy has CHANGED over this last year, WOW!!!
He has let his hair grow out. His whole face has changed, down to the eyebrows!
He looks like such a MAN! He is as tall as me, and his feet are gigantic! š³š Bigger than Bradys! His learners license is in hand, and he has been waiting for this day! Its possible we have pictures of him opening the letter from SGI.
Dekker settled into senior high activities this last school year. He learned how to manage some hard things, rose above some big challenges, and even got some heck at school when he finally stood up for himself. To be clear, I did not give him heck. It was time. And even in that kind of moment, he didn’t overdo anything. He has incredible self control and awareness.
This year, Dekker has become invested in his 3D printer, and loves to make gifts or funny pranks for the people he loves.
He has really dove in where he can with his dads health. He has helped with lifting, adjusting equipment, vehicle transfers, and seeking out basic tasks like filling his water bottle before bed that he could possibly fulfill.
He gets excited about his stories, and takes jokes really well. He went on two missions trips this last year, and has been gone the vast majority of the summer and I MISS his face!!!
He is shamelessly himself, and I LOVE that about him. Dekker really does not desire to run with the crowd at all. He is his own guy, and I absolutely love who that guy is.
For the first time ever, I don’t get to see this boy on his birthday!!! š© His summer of bible camp wraps up tonight, but he gets to stay for the staff windup and debrief. I told him I hope someone gives him ice cream, sings to him, and also throws him into the pool. Just let him take his watch off first please š¤£
