A Case of the Mondays

Mondays suck.

Our company left. I’m stinky. And my neck hurts. Dekker misses his cousins. The weather is crumby. Dekker has a diaper rash. I could go on but that is sooo unnecessary. We had an amazing weekend and its sad to come back to reality.

Laela and I had a morning nap while Deks slept in.Once we had napped for about twenty minutes I decided to lay her back in her bed, and the second her back touched the mattress, her eyes popped open and she started wailing. And it wouldn’t stop. So that was all the motivation I needed to get my lazy butt up and get her another bottle and some coffee for me. Has anyone tasted the
Winter Carnival” coffee from Timothy’s? Its delicious, for the record. Laela’s cries woke Dekker so I got him up and fed and eventually dragged both kids downstairs for a while. I know its a huge parenting fail, but I put the tv on and even had the nerve to place Laela right in front of it while I sat on the recliner, glazed over, for a solid half hour. Technically that was a good thing because I had Laela’s chair placed in a way that forced her to look to her left in an effort to help twist her spine and neck back the way they should be. Parenting win, I’d say.

Going down for a nap was hard for Dekker today, but nighttime was harder. Poor boy. I know how tired he is, and I know that he’s missing all the excitement and fun that came with having his cousins over. I know that he has diaper rash for the first time in a couple months, and that he still has a touch of his cold. But one can only have his misbehaviour and rudeness explained away for so long. Therefore, Dekker went down with lots of compassion and reprimand under his belt tonight. It was hard on us too.

On a high note, we ordered a dresser a week or two ago and have been waiting anxiously for it. Its been in the city for a few days but didn’t come out here due to “mechanical delays.” And of course, today the tracking information said “weather delay” so I was kind of peeved. But it arrived after all!!! I had just had a great visit with my sister in law on the phone for about an hour and a half, and as soon as we hung up, my phone rang again. This time it was the Purolator delivery driver who was waiting outside my house because I wasn’t answering the door. Being on the phone downstairs tends to have that effect. But either way, it is FINALLY here! Meaning there will soon be room for my kids’ clothes in their room. I can’t wait to have it assembled so I can organize it.

Tomorrow my family is meeting up with my parents in the city to pick up Christmas trees together 🙂 We have done this every year since we bought our house and its become a great tradition. I’m so looking forward to it! I think I’m going to go to spend a chunk of the day with my mom and then we’ll drive in together. Can’t wait to have the tree up and decorated, shining out of our living room windows. I’ll take pictures when that day comes.

Sleep well, all. Bath time for this poor neck.
