Contractions and Cuddles

Today was a great day for Dekker and I. He woke up nice and late, ate well, and played like a champ. I have no complaints, seriously. I am more and more in love with him everyday. I’ve been thinking a lot about how I say to people that my life became so much richer the second Dekker was born, and its completely true, but it is only getting more and more rich. We are truly blessed by God to have the family we have and are currently growing. See the baby?

Deks went down for a nap shortly after 2:00 and I went to my bedroom to be comfy for a little while. Luckily I was in bed for the contractions that I had over the next hour or two. Painful, crampy contractions. I suffered through them for a little while before changing positions. When I lay on my side, they changed to braxton hicks, which is better than the alternative anyway, but still far from ideal. I am sooo thankful that Dekker slept until literally about seven minutes before Brady arrived home. However, if you have him on Facebook, you’ll know his week was not ideal and he’s suffering from it. From locking himself out of his fan to shooting himself in the hand with a 2″ nail to having a rib out of place to just having a generally sucky cold, he’s had enough going on and shouldn’t have to care for his ailing wife and hungry son. So we tag teamed a bit, and Dekker is fed, played with, and in bed for the night.

Bedtime cuddles were hilarious tonight. Being that we’re all sweltering, Dekker lay on top of me like usual, but he lay on his back! I loved it actually, because it opened up all his tickle spots to me! He was hysterical is a super good way while we played, and then sort of shuffled over beside me when Brady came to join the fun, so Dekker was in the middle. SUPER poor quality, I know, but this sort of shows you what was going on 🙂

Its moments like these why I get why people share their beds with their kids. Its not something we’ve put into practice, but I know people who choose to and I get it. Its so nice having those you love so close together and safe and comfortable. I really enjoyed it.

Bath time! And perhaps eating the leftover cookie dough that we made last night. Yum!
