Brady and I slept like logs last night. We forgot to set an alarm for church so we didn’t make it. But as I’ve said in past blogs, I don’t think its wrong to miss once in a while at all. A restful day is sometimes just more restful at home. So we took one at home. I fought off my strange urge to do laundry (nesting?) and instead lazed around. Brady made us pancakes for breakfast, which was super delicious! After brunch we went downstairs to watch “What to Expect” and play toys with Dekker.
However, Dekker didn’t last too long playing toys and was in bed by 2pm. At that point, we finally pulled his birthday present out of our entrance and got it all set up. Dekker got a kitchen!!
Its from Brady and I, and my parents. If you’ve ever played with Dekker, you probably know his way of “playing” is really just reorganizing his toys. All of his pretending is based off of food, so we figured a kitchen would be the best! We bought one second hand off of a family here in town who bought theirs for over $300 and their kids never played with it. Insane, I know. I would have locked those kids in a room with that toy until it got some use!!! But instead we got a monster deal on it.
Dekker slept all freaking afternoon!!! As in we went to wake him around 7pm. I have no idea why he was so tired, unless it was from our tough day yesterday. Maybe it wasn’t just tough on Brady and I! Either way, we got him up and he had scrambled eggs for dinner before we brought him downstairs to play with his kitchen. He LOVES it!! He just went back and forth from cupboard to cupboard, pouring coffee into cups and moving the food around. The best part of the kitchen is that it comes with a barbecue that makes noise and lights up when you turn it on. He really enjoyed that! It was sooo much fun, which made bedtime sooo much sadder! I definitely understand why parents give in to their kids wishes and throw routine out the window sometimes. Its so nice to see your kids so happy, what would an extra fifteen minutes hurt?! Sadly, with Dekker, an extra fifteen minutes would make it all sooo much harder! So too bad for him, he had to go upstairs and get ready for bed. But cuddles were good and filled with misses and jokes. I love him.
Now to find a late supper for me. As if I can imagine eating anything with this much reflux. Gross.
Awww, I LOVE that both Dekker and Isaac got/get
kitchens for their 2nd b-days 🙂
Oh ya, I forgot about that!!! Teaching our boys to be domestic early 😉
