Relief

We actually slept ok last night. It took time, but we got there. Both Brady and I looove to be super wrapped up in our blanket, and its hard not to sleep with a blanket 🙁 but we did. The house was still hot in the morning but it was better than it had been. I texted my sister and requested a Skype breakfast date with her, and she agreed! So Dekker had his breakfast with me and his Auntie Caity this morning. He did pretty well, minus one HUGE meltdown. It was really too bad, but I put him in his room for a few minutes to cool down, and in that time I talked with Caity about all the anxiety I’ve had in this pregnancy. She had some wise words and was actually really encouraging. I really appreciated that talk!

Once our date was over, Dekker and I headed to my parents place. We had arranged to have supper with them and since we eat there sooo often, I offered to bring some of the food. So I grabbed the quarter ham that I had defrosted overnight and we headed out. My dad was at work in the day and my mom was running a few errands in the city, so I knew they wouldn’t be around until 2pm or later even, but they have air conditioning!!! So we went early. I brought Dekker in just a diaper shirt (no shorts or shoes) and I didn’t even put on a stitch of makeup, knowing I would just sweat it off. I was right. It was hot.

Our afternoon was well spent, in the cool house, playing toys and reading books. Dekker needed a diaper change as soon as we had arrived, and then of all silly things, he fountain peed!!! All over his diaper shirt. So back to being Diaper Boy I suppose! He seemed super comfy and happy to play that way. No complaints.

He went down for a nice long nap and I had a nice long chat with my mom. I feel like I haven’t seen her for so long, but I have, and I know it! They just have been shorter visits, and I miss her. So we had a nice visit this afternoon while the ham made the house smell amazing! It was awesome to just relax and feel baby girl move around. She moved tons and gave mom a few solid kicks. Its so real!

Brady was planning to work until a normal time and then have a chiropractor appointment right around 5pm. And then he shot himself.

I know, dramatic, right? Before you think this actually isn’t that bad, consider that this is a 2″ brad nail and what is sticking out is less than what made it inside. As in there is more than one inch inside his hand. Did you throw up a little when you read that? I literally, physically dry heaved when I saw this picture. He was super calm and headed right over to our clinic, and called to ask me to reschedule his appointment, which I did. He was pushed through at the clinic immediately and was seen within minutes. Lucky for us, our doctor was on walk-ins! So he saw Dr. Guselle, which makes everything better. They did a lot of bantering back and forth and after concluding that Brady could move his hand and everything, she basically offered to freeze him (he declined) and she yanked it out. She commented afterwards that she did not expect it to be quite so long! But everything moves like its supposed to, he barely bled, and isn’t too sore. So it could have been sooo much worse, and I am sooo thankful that is wasn’t! Gross. These injuries always gross me out.

So Brady was at my parents in good time, and we all sat down to eat together right around 6pm. Almost immediately after we finished, Dekker woke up so I fed him while everyone got to things they needed to do, and Brady took a load off and lay flat on the floor, trying to save his dying back. It was pretty eventful, but still really nice. Always nice to be with family.

We are now home, the day is done, and we are desperately trying (again) to cool our house off. Everything is opened and fans are going. I’m thinking a cool snack for the bathtub tonight. A nectarine I think. And a freezie?!
