If at first you don’t succeed…

Attempt #2 at a date with Dekker – SUCCESS!

I had a doctors appointment this morning so Dekker got up earlier than usual, had breakfast, and we packed up to go. No fuss, no muss. Lots of good music in the car helped I think. Plus I cracked the sunroof which he loves since its still new to him. We got in to see the doctor in good time and he was very patient while I talked with her. Granted, Brady came to help and occupy him, so he was entertained and fed his snacks. The appointment went well. I told her about my “episode” on Monday night and while she couldn’t really tell me what it was, she insisted that if it were to happen again, it is very important that I bring myself into emergency. She gave me a few possible reasons and I promised not to google any of them when I got home 🙂 She understands me. But she put enough information in my head that I agreed to seek medical attention if it were to happen again. Let’s just hope that it doesn’t!

From there, Dekker and I invited Brady to join us for lunch. We all ate lots and shared a big Superberry smoothie from Orange Julius. When Brady went back to work, Dekker and I perused all the new Spring stuff at Dollarama and spent a solid $20 on sand toys, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, and yes, a lawn flamingo. Dekker did amazing! Last time we were in Dollarama he made a big scene and I left the store with him wailing and essentially acting like a little brat. This time, we got the till and he actually reached up and handed the toy he was playing with to the cashier. So proud of my son.

We didn’t push it though. I know my boy was up early and had been nap-free for several hours. Our last stop was Superstore. Smoothie stuff! We recently purchased a couple of those insulated to-go cups for cold drinks (clear cups with the straw out the top) because they were on sale. We made smoothies the other day and they were perfect for him! However, we only bought two, and there are three of us. So I went to pick up another few to have more on hand in case we have smoothies with other people. They weren’t on sale anymore, but at $5 each, I didn’t feel bad purchasing four. We also hit up the produce area hoping for some strawberries and bananas on the reject rack that we could slice up and freeze today. I know, it sounds cheap, but I figure if the goal is to freeze it anyway, who cares if it was about to kick if it never got the chance?! However, there was no reject rack today! So I opted for frozen instead. 4kg of berries and a few bananas later, we were on our way home. Not one tear out of Dekker all afternoon. I was so impressed!

The evening was kind of chaotic so I’m deciding to leave it out completely. Because I can. The day was really, really good. Dekker and I got our nice date in, we got a whole bunch of fun Spring and Summer stuff to play with on our deck and in Dekker’s new sand table, and the little baby is moving like crazy. No rolling yet from what I can tell but some pretty painful nudges today so maybe soon! Some noble effort coming from this little one!

Couldn’t be happier with my kids today. Love them.
